The impact of covid-19 is almost global and that has affected the missionaries we support. We can't share all the details from all our missionaries since some of them are in restricted access nations (RAN). Here are 5 things that all of them have sent as a prayer request.
1. God's protection.
Pray for protection not just from the virus, but some of them have asked to be protected from local authorities discovering that they are sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in a RAN.
"What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" Matthew 16:26a (NIV)
2. Strength for the people on the front lines battling against covid-19.
Pray for the Doctors, Nurses, Missionaries and Churches on the front lines giving people much needed medical treatment and providing for practical needs like food and other supplies.
3. For local Governments.
Pray for wisdom for the local authorities to get much-needed care to the people. Some of the nations our missionaries are in, do not have the same infrastructure to get aid into the hands of those who need it most as efficiently as we do in Canada. This is also a problem that many, if not all, Governments have not faced before.
4. For finances.
Many of the missionaries we support have already been actively helping with practical needs in their community like feeding programs, health care and more. These programs are needed now more than ever. Please prayerfully consider how you can support missions. To donate towards missions, please visit the Donate tab on our website.
5. To make disciples!
The heart of every single one of the missionaries we support is to see people have a relationship with Jesus Christ. That doesn't stop in the midst of covid-19. If anything, this is the time the Church needs to rise up the most! Please pray that people's hearts will be open to the gospel.
Here are a few updates from those missionaries we can mention.
All of our missionaries are safe and are actively working in their communities. Two missionaries have returned home by order of our local government and/or their organization.
Pastor Firmin and Ricardo are working with new challenges to distribute food and much-needed supplies in their communities. The local government has shut almost everything down so it is making it difficult, but they are up to the challenge with God's help.
L and E send their love and are safe. They said the last words they shared with us before going back are still true…God is COMPLETELY FAITHFUL.
