Do you know what an “800-pound Gorilla” is? It is the same thing as “the elephant in the room”. It is a euphemism for a topic or an issue that is crucial and important but has not been talked about. Many times it is because the topic is emotionally charged or so controversial that it is a lot easier to let that sleeping dog lie (Which is another euphemism for another time). However, the bible does tell us that we need to give an answer to the hope that is in us and that would include a biblical response to some of the harder topics that our neighbours and co-workers are discussing these days.
